Work the review queue as a validator or administrator, approving reports onto the public map, removing them with a reason, and linking duplicates.
For: Validators, Administrators
Nothing a member of the public submits reaches the public map until a reviewer approves it. The review queue is where that happens. Validators and administrators can use it.
Open the queue
Sign in with your validator or administrator account.
Click the console button in the top bar: Review queue for a validator, Admin console for an administrator.
Administrators: choose the Review queue tab.
The queue lists every report waiting for a decision, newest first, with a count such as 12 pending.
Read a report
Each report shows:
its hazard type and place, and a Relief tag if it is a relief listing (with Until and its end date, or Expired);
Photo and Voice tags if something is attached;
N confirmed if other people have confirmed the same report from the mobile app. Treat this as a hint, not proof;
the city, province and coordinates, or no coordinates in red;
the description, and the Source line saying who submitted it.
Click Attachments to see the photo or play the voice note before you decide.
Find what you need
Search hazard, place or description: type any words, e.g. a district name or "bridge".
With photo or voice: show only reports that have an attachment.
Approve a report
Click Approve. The report goes onto the homepage map and into the data straight away, credited to its uploader, with you as the approver.
Approve is greyed out for a report with no coordinates, because it cannot be placed on the map. Remove it with a reason asking for the location, or wait for a corrected report.
Remove a report
Click Remove.
Under Reason (optional — the reporter will see it), say why, for example "Duplicate of an existing report" or "Not enough detail to act on".
Click Confirm removal, or Cancel to change your mind.
A removed report is hidden from the public, not deleted, so the person who filed it can be told what happened. Their mobile app shows your reason. Keep reasons short, polite and useful.
Duplicates
When the mobile app sees a new report near a similar one, it asks the reporter whether theirs is the same incident. If they say theirs is separate, you see a Worth comparing note naming the other report.
If they really are the same incident, click Mark as the same incident. Both show as one marker on the map ("N reports of this incident").
If they are different, leave them unlinked.
A linked report shows Linked as the same incident. Unlink separates them again.
Relief listings
A relief listing that is still open has an Expire now button. Use it when you learn a camp has closed: the listing leaves the public map and data at once.
Good practice
Open the attachments before you approve.
Check the coordinates match the place name. A Sukkur report should not sit in Punjab.
Approve facts, not rumours. If you cannot tell, remove the report and say what would help.
Work the oldest reports first during a quiet spell, and the newest first during an emergency.
