Use the live hazard and relief maps

Read the homepage maps, filter them by hazard, place and time, see the weather forecast and official figures, and download what you see as a PDF.

For: Everyone

The homepage has two live maps of Pakistan, under Pakistan's current flood & hazard situation:

Everything on the community layers has been checked by a reviewer before it appears. Nothing waiting for review is ever shown.

Read a marker

Markers are coloured by hazard, and each carries its hazard's symbol, so you can tell them apart without relying on colour.

Zones or all pins

The hazard map starts in Zones: nearby reports of the same kind of hazard merge into one shaded area, so you can see at a glance that "this whole area is flooded". Switch to All pins to see every report at its own location.

When several reports describe the same incident, a reviewer links them, and they show as one marker that says how many reports it holds.

Filter the map

Each map has Filters above it:

Filter What it does
Period Only what happened in the Past month, Past 3 months, Past year, or All time.
Hazards (or Relief, shelters & NGOs on the relief map) Tick the kinds you want to see.
Province and District Narrow the map to a place. The district list follows the province you choose.
Time period Pick particular years.

The place filters apply to every layer: community reports, official points and advisories, forecast areas and the map shading. Reset all clears every filter. If nothing matches, the map says so instead of showing an empty map.

The weather forecast layer

Turn on Weather forecast risk to see where heavy rain, heat or strong wind is expected in the next few days. Each circle is rated:

Use Severity to hide the milder levels. Click a circle to see the day it is expected and why it is flagged, for example the rain that day, the rain in the past week, the peak temperature, or wind gusts. The forecast comes from Open-Meteo. The layer says when it was last updated, and Refresh now fetches it again.

Official figures

Below the hazard map, Official figures summarise the latest NDMA situation report: deaths and injuries by province, with a link to the source PDF. The provinces on the map are shaded by deaths (the key is under Map shading — deceased). A chart shows deaths over the season; Show these figures as a table gives the same numbers as a table. You may also see the latest nationwide weather advisory and river and reservoir levels.

The figures panel always shows the whole country, even when you filter the map to one place.

The relief map

The relief map shows relief points that people have listed and reviewers have approved. A listing can carry an end date, and it leaves the map after that date. Below the map, Official relief response gives NDMA's relief figures, such as camps standing, people sheltered and rescued, and relief goods delivered.

Turn on Relief facilities to add hospitals, clinics, fire and ambulance stations, shelters and water points from OpenStreetMap. Clicking one opens it in Google Maps. These are places known to exist, mapped by volunteers. They are not relief camps, and they are not an official register. Cities are mapped far better than the countryside, so call 1122 before you travel.

Download a PDF

Download PDF saves the records currently shown on the map, with your filters applied, as a PDF. The number on the button is how many records it will include.
